Bangladeshi American Foundation Inc. (BAF) launched in 2019 in Maryland, serving the D.C. metro, founded by leaders like Dr. Anisur Rahman Palash and Commissioner Hashan H. Chowdhury. Their goal? Spark passion for Bengali culture through events that blend heritage with American life, building networks and a future community center. It’s grown from community devotion, emphasizing teamwork to support the diaspora.
They host vibrant festivals like the 2021 Bangladesh Festival with music and independence celebrations, or Falgun Night in 2023 featuring games, shows, and songs. Literary nights honor writers like Humayun Ahmed with performances. Volunteer services and event registrations help folks engage, plus they shifted to disaster aid during COVID.
BAF boosts cultural identity in urban D.C., drawing crowds to events that foster ties and preserve traditions. It aids integration, supports welfare, and inspires generations, making the Bangladeshi community stronger and more visible.
