Mission and History:
BAYA’s mission is to foster leadership, social responsibility, education, and cultural enrichment for Bangladeshi American youth, promoting diversity and service in the Bangladeshi community in Paterson. Founded in 2011 as a 501(c)(3) by young Bangladeshi Americans, it filled gaps for the growing diaspora in Paterson since the 1980s. Milestones include after-school programs at Paterson schools since 2013, outreach serving hundreds, and partnerships for academic enrichment.
Services and Programs:
BAYA provides after-school tutoring in ELA and math, youth development activities, sports like soccer, and community service opportunities. Cultural events and volunteering drives enhance identity and skills, benefiting the Bangladeshi diaspora in Paterson NJ by boosting education, health, and civic ties.
