think globally, act locally
The North American Bangladeshi Islamic Community plays a significant role in supporting these initiatives. Established in 1990 as a 501(c)(3) non-partisan nonprofit, NABIC follows “think globally, act locally” to uplift underprivileged communities in Bangladesh and North America. Led by a diverse board from eight states, it focuses on vulnerable groups like children, youth, and women, transcending race or religion.
NABIC runs healthcare clinics (e.g., mobile units), scholarships ($120,000 since 2012 in NY and elsewhere), women’s vocational training, emergency relief for disasters, and community projects like eye hospitals and sports facilities for girls.
With investments like $250,000 in hospitals and aid in remote areas, NABIC has improved health, education, and poverty levels, empowering Bangladeshi Americans and those back home.
