Historic peace sanctuary and museum established in 1946 during Mahatma Gandhi’s historic peace mission to restore communal brotherhood.
Following communal riots in 1946, Mahatma Gandhi toured 47 remote villages of Noakhali preaching peace and nonviolence. Barrister Hemanta Kumar Ghosh donated his ancestral estate in Joyag to establish the Ashram. Today, the complex operates as a peace and rural development trust, featuring a museum displaying Gandhi’s personal spinning charkha, sandals, letters, and rare photographs.
