📖 About This Attraction

15th-century mausoleum complex of saint-warrior Khan Jahan Ali, featuring a single-domed stone tomb and a 200-acre lake inhabited by sacred marsh crocodiles.

Erected in 1459 AD by the founder of Khalifatabad, Ulugh Khan Jahan, this single-domed brick mausoleum is built in austere Tughlaq-influenced architecture over a stone crypt. In front of the tomb spreads the immense 200-acre Khanjeli Dighi, home to legendary sacred freshwater marsh crocodiles (Muggers) named "Kala Pahar" and "Dhol Pahar" who respond to the caretaker’s ritual calls.
