Remittance checklist guide · Reading FX corridors · MFS wallets · Opening an account · All guides
1. Inward Wage Remittances: Remittances sent through official banking channels and licensed MFS receive a 2.5% Government Cash Incentive directly credited to the beneficiary account, with 100% tax exemption under the Income Tax Act 2023.
2. Outbound Travel Quota: Bangladeshi citizens traveling abroad are entitled to endorse up to USD 12,000 (or equivalent foreign currency) per calendar year on their international dual-currency credit or prepaid cards.
3. Foreign Currency Accounts: Non-resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) can maintain Non-Resident Foreign Currency Deposit (NFCD) accounts in USD, GBP, or EUR with scheduled commercial banks in Bangladesh.
4. Statutory Anti-Hundi & AML Warning: Remitting funds through illegal, informal networks (Hundi/Hawala) is a severe criminal offense under the Foreign Exchange Regulation Act 1947 and Money Laundering Prevention Act 2012. Informal channels offer zero statutory deposit protection (DITF), forfeit the 2.5% government cash incentive, and expose funds to seizure.
